I see there is no bottom to this sand box. Please advise as to what should be put as a base?

Thank you for your interest in our sandboxes. The bottom is open to allow drainage and the ability to rinse the sand. Many children also like to play with wet sand, so it also allows the ability to drain excess water. If you are placing it on grass or ground, it is best to lay a heavy duty weed cloth underneath that will allow water to drain but to prevent weeds and grass from growing up, while also preventing the mixing of dirt and sand if the children dig down to it.
