First of all very easy to put Mr Spin together! But I am wondering why are there 2 separate compartments? Is one side for carbon based compost and the other nitrogen?
Bonnie Cunningham | 5/8/23
Hi Bonnie
I’m glad you like the Mr. Spin! When you begin using your composter, start by adding fresh kitchen scraps (greens) and browns to one of the compartments until it is full (mixing and tumbling during this process. Once the first compartment is full, begin adding to the second compartment. This way the first batch of compost has time to mature all at once without adding new scraps to it. In this manner you can rotate between the two compartments, using one for fresh scraps and one for mature compost.

The booklet that came with my composted was helpful in understanding the process of composting. My remaining questions are:
—how do you know when your compost is ready?
—how do you get it out for use in the garden?
Ellysia Banks | 10/28/2019
Hi Ellysia
Thank you for reaching out. The compost will be ready when it is dark and crumbly and looks more like rich dirt. There may still be bits of food that take longer to decompose (such as eggshells and some peels or larger pieces), but those can be added back into your compost pile.
When you are ready to empty the Mr. Spin, completely pull out the sliding lid for the side you would like to empty and spin the composter so the opening faces the ground. It may help to use a small hand rake to empty it out.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Thanks, Claudia | Customer Support.
