Arcadia & Arcadia Plus Greenhouse

The Arcadia is the only Janssens model that is designed to be attached to a house, shed, or other structure. It is shaped as a lean-to, but otherwise features the same essential design elements as the Royal Victorian (and is customizable in many of the same ways).

If you’re looking to enhance an existing structure, or to own a greenhouse which can be accessed directly from inside your home, the Arcadia deserves your consideration.

Please note that because the Arcadia can only be purchased as a customized model, a special order must be placed with the Janssens factory in Belgium. Consequently, lead times are longer than those of other models.

Dimensions

Since Arcadia greenhouses are offered only as a special order, they have no default length or width - these dimensions may be customized within certain parameters.

Frame

When compared to the Arcadia, the Arcadia Plus comes with more robust 17 gauge aluminum profiles to support the roof in the following locations:

Gutter Profiles
Rafter Extrusions
Roof Ridge Beam
Horizontal Gable Bar

Additional Options

Doors & Windows: There is no standard configuration of doors and windows. Customers may select their desired options from the 'Accessories' list to the right. Please note that double doors can only be installed in walls that contain at least 4 panels.

Glazing: Customers may substitute narrow panels (~1'2" width) for the standard glazing panels (~2'4" width) at a ratio of 2:1. This will not affect the overall dimensions of the greenhouse.
On the roof of glass models, customers may substitute polycarbonate glazing panels for the glass glazing panels.

Decorative Panels: Customers may choose to add decorative metal panels along the bottom of the side walls, identical to those found on the Retro Victorian greenhouse.

Colorss: Customers may choose a color from the RAL Color System outside of the default options.

Special Notes

The Arcadia and Arcadia Plus are advanced builds and should only be assembled by a contractor or highly skilled handyman. Please consider the following:

On glass models, the roof glazing panels are extremely large and heavy and may require additional support scaffolding during assembly.
Hardware for attaching this greenhouse to a building is not included
Weather stripping for sealing the gap between this greenhouse and a building is not included.
Due to the high level of customization for this greenhouse, Exaco cannot provide structural certifications (but we can put you in touch with the engineering firm that provided ours).

What Makes Janssens a Quality Brand?

Can I Use My Greenhouse as an Additional Living Space?

These structures are designed to be a greenhouse first and foremost. As packaged, the greenhouse is not designed to be water/air tight. Greenhouse plants do benefit from a turn of air. You may need to do some extra sealing with silicone on the roof around the glass to achieve watertightness.
The glass is single pane, so there is a good chance for condensation on the inside that might drip. We recommend any furniture be indoor/outdoor and that fine wood furniture/electronics be avoided or sufficiently protected.
The roof windows do have auto openers, so there is always a chance with a summer rainstorm (with the temp above 70) that the windows could be open and it could rain in. You can switch to all manual openers if preferred.
On sunny days, glass greenhouses can get warm very quickly. Depending on your climate, you will likely be fighting the heat in the summer (late spring/early fall).
It has been done, but you will need to make customized adjustments such as extra sealing, climate control, window tinting and heating.
